City commences with roadworks in Kleinvlei, Eerste River and Kuils River

21 October 2025

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise residents, road users, businesses and the broader public of resurfacing roadworks along roads in Kleinvlei, Eerste River and Kuils River. The work commenced on 16 October 2025 and is scheduled to continue until 18 December 2025, pending all goes according to plan.

The Urban Mobility team will be doing resurfacing roadworks along segments of the following roads:

• Kleinvlei
Raymond Ackerman Avenue; Albert Philander Way; Gousblom Avenue; Vygie Avenue; Watsonia Street; Ghaap Street; Namakwa Street and Daisy Street

• Eerste River
Shakespeare Road; Avon Road; August Street; Ceres Street; Tafelberg Road; Melton Road; Pine Crescent and Andromeda Street

• Kuils River
Fabriek Road in front of the driving licence testing centre in Kuils River Industria; Assegaaibos Street and Waboom Street in Rouxville as well as Mission Road and Kappertjie Street in Sarepta

‘These works stretch over quite a number of roads in Kleinvlei; Kuils River and Eerste River and will take place between 07:00 and 17:00 from Monday to Friday. The teams will be resurfacing these areas with new asphalt layer over the full width of the road. The replacement of broken kerbs and the reinstatement of all road markings will also be done in the process. These projects improve road safety conditions and our riding quality which helps us to keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

Congestion can be expected since traffic travelling in both directions will be affected, therefore road users are urged to factor in longer travel time and to consider alternative routes while roadworks are under way. Only one lane will be open to traffic in each direction during working times.
